ARC DE TRIOMPHE
Free entance 1st Sunday of every month from October 1st to March 31. From above monument, there is a unique view on the 12 avenues starting from the place de l'Etoile.
Under the Arc is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with the Flame of Memory symbolizing for all the French, but also for the tourists of the entire world, the sacrifice of all those who died on the battlefield to make France a free country. Eeach evening at 6:30 p.m. the flame is revived during a short and moving ceremony.

BASTILLE DAY FESTIVITIES
Bastille Day, or the Fourteenth of July, is the French national holiday. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, which marked the end of monarchy and the beginning of the French Revolution.
In Paris, Bastille Day festivities begin in the morning with the solemn military parade up the Champs Elysées.
After dark, a huge fireworks bursts out in the sky near the Eiffel Tower. Dancing parties are organised in many areas of Paris, including the famous fireflighters balls that take place on July 13th or/and July 14th.
BOOK SELLERS STANDS
Wandering along the Seine and browsing the book sellers stands is one of the typical Parisians' walk on Sundays.
The book sellers stands are on the right bank of the Seine from the pont Marie to the quai du Louvre, on the left bank from the quai de la Tournelle to the quai Malaquais.
BREAD FESTIVAL (Fête du Pain)

Take the bus, it's an excellent means of seeing Paris and it's free with your metro pass..
Some lines are particularly interesting for sightseeing: lines 21, 24, 29, 30, 32, 38, 42, 47, 52, 63, 69, 72, 73, 89 and the most picturesque of all: the Montmartrobus (line 64, departure from place Pigalle, Metro Pigalle).
You can hop on and off as often as you like, always for free with you metreo pass.
BUTTE AUX CAILLES
In the 13th arrondissement is one of the most pleasant “village” of Paris : the Butte-aux-Cailles (the Hill of he Quails).
Get off at Metro Corvisart, cross the Boulevard Blanqui and enter by the passage that cuts through the big building, to the Rue Engène Atget. Climb the stairs which will bring you up to the Rue des Cinq Diamants to the intersection at Rue de la Butte aux Cailles.
Windmills have now disappeared, but its low buildings, its old sleeping streets and narrow alleys give to the Butte some idle atmosphere, at least during the day. Times goes slowly, with lazy cats bathing in the sun and few people in the streets. Whith the evening everything becomes different. The inhabitants go out for some late shopping, music and noise invade the streets, cafés and restaurants are now well awoken.
Don’t miss the Rue Daviel and the "Petite Alsace" with its Alsace-styled houses from the early 1900s, and the adorable Villa Daviel, with private small houses and mini gardens.

Le Père Lachaise cemetery

CHINA TOWN
Paris has two Chinatowns.
The first and biggest one is in the 13th arrondissement, between metro stations Porte d'Ivry, Porte de Choisy and Place d'italie. From there, you can explore the area and discover a wide range of picturesque shops and typical Asian restaurants. This is indeed the the biggest Chinatown in Europe.
The second and more recent Chinatowns is in Belleville., around the metro station Belleville. The streets are always lively, with numerous restaurants, shops and markets.
CHINESE NEW YEAR
In February, the Chinese community celebrates the dawning of the Year with a colourful parades that takes place in the 13th arrondissement, between the Place d'Italie and the Porte de Choisy and in Belleville area.
CHRISTMAS TIME IN PARIS
In December, there is a special atmosphere in Paris: cold and dark outside, warmth and holiday in the heart. Starting from five o’clock, everything becomes magic. The Champs-Elysées are changed into a river of lights, the Galeries Lafayette look like a palace out of the Arabian Nights.

CITE FLORALE
Hidden near the Boulevard Périphérique, near the Parc Montsouris, the Cité Florale is tiny village built in 1928. Thelovely narrow alleys all have names of flowers and eachhouse owns its minuscule garden full of lilac, wisterias and roses. The entry of the Cité is rue Brillat-Savarin, near Place de Rungis (metro: Maison Blanche or RER Cité Universitaire).

EIFFEL TOWER
Do you really need to stand in a so long line to ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower? Do as Parisians do, admire the Tower from below, at different hours and from various spots in the city.
The best is at night from Pont de Grenelle or the Pont de l'Alma, when Her Majesty the Tower is festooned with sparkling white lights. Arrive on the hour for a five-minute display (every hour from twilight).
ELYSEE PALACE
The Palais de l'Elysée, home of the French Presidentl, can be visited for free once a year during the "Journées du Patrimoine" (mid-September).
EXHIBITIONS

FUNICULAR
On the southern site of Montmartre hill, a funicular provides access to the Sacre-Coeur, as an alternative to the stairway that you must otherwise climb to reach the summit.
The funicular is operated by RATP and you pay for it with a metro ticket. (If you have the Navigo Pass/Carte Orange, it's free).
The Montmartre funicular runs all year round, from 6:15 am to 12:45 pm, every 20 minutes.

Metro and Buses are free all night for New Year’s Eve (from 5 pm, December 31st to noon January 1st)

MOUZAIA (area of the)
Imagine that you take the metro until a far station in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, like Danube or Botzaris.
Imagine that you climb a few stairs off the station while you hear some church bells ringing.
You walk along one or two quiet streets, you turn right or left in one of these small "villas" (little stoned paved carless streets), such as "Villa Amalia", "Villa Lafforgue" or "Villa du Danube".
You suddenly feel overwhelmed with divines scents of wisterias, honeysuckles, roses and lilac.
You are in the heart of the Mouzaïa area, a little pocket of countryside in the city, with pale green or pink houses built in the beginning of XXe century, each one lined with a minuscule flowery garden.

OBELISK (The Luxor Obelisk)
Place de la Concorde is the famous Luxor Obelisk, a gift from the viceroy of Egypt Mehemet Ali to King Louis-Philip in 1829.
This is the one of a pair of obelisks that were erected in front of Luxor Temple.The other one still remains in Luxor.

You can enter the Opéra Garnier without paying (say that you are going to buy tickets or to visit the Opera shop). The Palais Garnier is open everyday except on Sundays, from 10:30 am to 18h30 pm . Every year on the 14th of July, for Bastille Day, there is a free performance in the afternoon (ballet or opera) at the Opera Garnier or the Opéra Bastille. Web site
Free at the Opéra Bastille : Casse-croûte & Pleins Feux
The "Casse-croûte" take place twice a month, on Thurdays, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. A free conference on Ballet or Opera, or a free concert is performed in the "Studio" of Opéra Bastille (climb the Great Staircase and turn on your left). The "Pleins Feux" take place from time to time on Saturdays, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. in the "'amphitéâtre Bastille" (basement of Opera Bastille). They are rehearseals danced by Opera dancers or musical conferences about operas. Weekly in-line skating events have become phenomenally popular in Paris. A Sunday skate hosted by Rollers & Coquillages covers a traffic-free 12-mile route, and gets rolling at 2:30 p.m. near Place de la Bastille.

SHROVE TUESDAY PARADE
Mardi Gras (in French,( it literally means "Fat Tuesday” ), is the last joyful day of the Carnival period, just before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. Mardi Gras has been celebrated in Paris since the Middle Ages. During that period it was the custom of parading a fat ox through the streets. This ox symbolized the last meat eaten before Lent. During the past few year the Parade of the Fat Ox has picked up again in the Saint-Fargeau area of the 20th arrondissement de Paris.

The palace is open for free the 1st Sunday of every month from November 1st to March 31 and during the Nuit Blanche (first week-end of October).

VIADUCT
The Daumesnil viaduct was built in 1859 to carry a railway line.
Its pink arches, now refurbished, are devoted to craft studios and boutiques.

ZADKINE
The sculptor Ossip Zadkine lived and worked in his house in the rue d'Assas from 1928 until his death, in 1967.
More than 400 sculptures are scattered through the workshop, the house and its garden : a peaceful place for a nice stroll.
